Here are the answers to some questions that have popped up over time
General:
This page contains some basic information based on questions people have often asked me. There are two pages you might want to visit right away:
See the Contact Page for information regarding starting up a correspondence
See the Custom Design page for information about what you can do with my designs, submitting your own designs, and getting custom designs.
Quantities:
Interested in ordering quantities above what I have listed on the General Prices Page? Simply Contact me for a quote. Please include the type of product you are interested in, along with size.
Interested in small magnets below the quantity 100? If you are ordering just magnets, 100 is the minimum for the 3.5x2 inch size. You can get less than 100 if ordering in magnets and something else. 'Something else' could be envelopes, card and envelopes, address labels, or most any other product.
Interested in ordering a specific quantity not listed? Whether or not you can do this depends on the product you order ordering. For example, postcards are pretty much only sold at specific quantities- if you only wanted 75, it would still cost as much as ordering 100. Slitted cards, however, can be ordered in odd numbers.
Photographs:
A common mistake people make is sending the small versions of their photographs, rather than the print files. Some of you may not have access to the print files, which will likely be problematic. The main issue is resolution- an can easily increase the size of an image, but, doing so creates an extremely blurred and blocky image. I will not print some images, knowing how they are going to turn out.
Explaining how to get the print files of a photo varies based on where you are getting your photos from. Basically, you do not want to use the photos that you found on a website. Those are the small preview versions of the photo, meant for viewing on the computer- not the print files.
If you... are scanning in a photo, go with 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution. If you... took photos on a camera and got them developed, try to get a CD of the photographs. Then you want the photograph directly from a CD.
As a general indicator, if the photo appears larger than your screen when viewed in internet explorer, so that you have to scroll to see more of it, then it is a good size. In some cases for small magnets, where your photo will only be printed at about half and inch square, we can get away with using smaller files of the photo. It would still have to be a photo that is decently large when viewing in on your screen, and, something that doesn't require cropping.
Mailing actual photos to me for scanning is also a possibility.
I can do many things with your photographs, be it editing the shape, the color, or just flipping and cropping. Switching a color to black and white is no problem.
Ordering:
Okay, so you have looked at my pricing, looked at my designs, and want to order. Now I must tell you that you will not be able to order right away. I sell primarily custom printed products- we will have to work out the design first. Check out response times, production times, and all that, then contact me. If you want to order something that does not involve any custom printing, let me know what you want to order, what quantity, and I will email you an invoice.
If you have worked out a design with me, still, do not just send over money. I create custom invoices for customers with the final design and details of the order- this is needed so that there is not any confusion about what is being ordered. Bear with me! I know you might be in a hurry, but the details can be important.
Now, how to order...
...Have you been emailed a proof and you are happy with it? If not, you can use links on the small & large magnet design pages to submit a request to edit a design. For other and/or new design ideas you will have to email me. If you are going to email me, see the Contact page. We will confer on the design, and see if we can come up with something for you.
...So we have worked out a design you are happy with, and you want to order. You have probably noticed, I do not have a shopping cart on the website. What you need to do next, is email me with:
1) The quantity you want to order
2) Everything you want to order (for example, people ordering magnets might want to add envelopes. But what size?)
3) Whether you want to order online with credit or mail in something.
I use this information to create custom invoices for each customer based on their order. I do not have any plans to add an automatic shopping cart to my website. I let people do too much customization for this too be feasible- and so we must have the design finalized before ordering.
Production Time:
Once the order is finalized, you've double checked it, and I confirm payment, the following are a general estimates for delivery times:
1 or 2 inch round stickers, 1.8 inch square stickers: 1.5 weeks
Small magnets, large magnets, postcards, address labels, custom sized stickers, and glossy cards: 2-2.5 weeks
Orders of magnets with cards and envelopes OR orders of medium and custom sized magnets: 2.5-3 weeks
4x3.5 inch magnets with rounded corners OR magnet, cards with slits, and envelope combinations: 2.5-3.5 weeks
Invitations and unique save the dates, or other custom projects, will vary in time.
Despite the long production times, many of these orders cannot be canceled shortly after ordering. Once printing&production has begun, an order cannot be canceled.
Payment:
As mentioned above, I will invoice you when it comes time to order. You can have me set up your invoice with information for a mailed in payment, or, ordering online with credit.
I offer both Google Checkout and Paypal for processing online payments.
I occasionally get customers who aren't used to ordering online and haven't ever used either paypal or google. Basically, these are well known credit processors. Any website that has a shopping cart uses a payment processor. The reason merchants use them is: it's a secure way of payment.
Do not email credit information! This is not a secure way of paying- wait for the invoice to make payment online.
You do not need to have or to set up an account with paypal to proceed with ordering online. If you do have an account, though, note that if you send funds directly from your bank account- an 'e-check'- this takes 3-4 days to clear.
If you mail in a check, that too will need to clear before the order begins.

Shipping:
I typically use USPS priority shipping. This is a low cost option with a reasonable delivery time. Generally, going with a slower service will not reduce cost any- I use flat rate boxes for many orders, keeping costs down. If you need a faster service, you could save a few days by going with Express shipping, which is a more guaranteed 1-2 days. For large magnet orders, however, the cost of shipping the order express would be very high due to weight.
Shipping outside the USA: I can ship to other countries. Cost would depend on location and weight of the shipment. CANADIANS- I need to know that I am shipping outside the country when you are ordering so that I can give you an accurate time frame and shipping cost.
Return Policy:
Custom printed products can not be returned. For magnets, I cannot rip off your printing and use the magnetic backing for another order- this isn't really feasible for me. Something that has been personalized is not something I can sell to another customer. If your date has changed and you need to reorder the same design with a new date, I might be able to give you a slight discount.
Product information:
I offer a variety of products. Based on common questions: Magnets are glossy. Postcards and other cards with full color printing cannot produced with other that the usual white card stock. I can offer different card stock options for invitations, which would obviously vary the price. For some products, the amount of ink and/or the use of color will vary the cost; For some products, like magnets, it will not make a difference. The color scheme used for printing is CMYK. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key(Black). I do not offer raised ink printing at this time. This means that the only way to get a light text color and a dark background, it to use a white card stock and completely print the background.
Gaurantees & Notices:
Guarantee: Of course if something goes wrong with your order, I'm going to try what I can to resolve the issues. The first step would be to send the product to me so that I can look them over. If needed, a reprint would be issued.
Before you order, however, you should be aware of a couple things. The first: shipping delays. Once I've handed off the package to the postal service, it's out of my hands. If something happens to delay your package- such as a truck breaking down, or some other internal issue with the postal service- there is not anything I can do about it. The second issue: colors looking slightly different. Monitors are not calibrated to show you exactly how things are going to print. This problem is universal to any online printing service- most affordable places use the usual CMYK color scheme, not special inks. Monitors have different models, and different settings; So even, do printers. For example, I've had a couple customers that were completely unable to see light gray or yellow colors on their monitors- they showed up as white to them. Colors can seem darker or lighter on your monitor than they are going to print. There isn't always a difference, or if so, only slight, but yes, the colors can be a little lighter or darker than expected from time to time. If you know you want a most exact design, you may want to find a company that offers custom printed proofs. The third disclaimer: I am not liable for spelling or information errors- the final design will be on your invoice.
Long Website urls:
I get a great deal of business from referrals on message boards. Many, come from theKnot. In regards to the long website addresses theKnot gives for those personal web pages, if you want to put one on a small vertical magnet, I would suggest using notlong.com to shorten the address. In some cases, those addresses will even have trouble fitting on a small horizontal magnet. Notlong.com will let you choose the text of your url to an extent, which is why I favor it over tinyurl.com. I am not responsible if notlong.com ever malfunctions, but I can tell you that a notlong.com address I created still works over a year later. I know many of you want the website on your magnet, but a lot of designs for the small sized magnet are not compatible with this. Consider including it on the card, or a note, when mailing the magnets.
Samples:
Custom printed samples are not available for magnets.
For ordering samples of various products, with random designs, just to get a feel for some of the items I offer, visit this page: Samples
Alternate card stock options:
Alternate card stock is not available for magnets, postcards, or full color 5.5x4.25 inch cards. But for the 'simple cards' line, some wedding invitations (check description), itinerary cards, business cards, and some other products, you can go with an alternate card stock option. This means that instead of white card stock, you could pick cream colored stock. Or you could get a linen texture. If you are a environmentally conscious bride, you can go with a recycled stock. However, having me use another type of card stock will alter the price. If you have something in mind, let me know, and I will work towards finding a supplier to the card stock, then pricing out your project based on the cost of the new card stock.
